A teacher should have

A special place

In every child’s heart.

Because in this game of life

They help them get their start

I just want to thank you Mrs Duxbury

For all the things you’ve done

You’re the best teacher!

And to me you’re number ONE!

My article on FirstNews is called ‘Calculators to be banned from maths tests!’  This article is about maths tests being banned at the key stage 2 maths tests, (SATs). This is going to start in 2014. Some teachers disagree with this idea claiming working without calculators will put people off in maths whereas the other side of the arguement is that some children rely on the calculators and that they are not confident with ‘addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.’

Amazing, outstanding fact….

Some schools allow children as young as seven to use them!

Haleema year 6 Miriam Lord Primary, Bradford and number 208

Sam East Boldon Junior school and number 216

Yesterday, I baked some scrumptious chocolate cakes, after rummaging in the cupboards for ingredients.  Once cooked, I put them on the table and covered them up so that no one pinched any.  Suddenly, I heard a loud munching noise coming from the kitchen and I crept in to find all but one of the cakes gone.  Something brushed past me, jumped through the window (possibly an alien), so I charged outside and found my brother (who is not an alien).  After minutes of speaking, I spotted a crumb on his shirt and he owned up to eating my cakes.

Read it here Gorrilas get a new garden

If you were a gorrila, would you like your enclosure turned into an edible mountain?  I found it strange how the gorrilas discarded the lavender and sunflowers, yet not so suprising that they dived immediately for the bannana leaves!  I have been to howlets quite a lot because it is near cantebury and that is where  my grandparents and some of my coisins live. I didn’t know that Lorna Wanless was the head of the gorrila section though I know that the speciality  is gorrilas at  Howlets. Astonishing, Howlets was a privite park some years back and I remember it!You wouldn’t Belive it but Howlets have a 90-acre Gorrila site! I wonder what ‘flora’ is?

Read the story here Bonfire Night Causes risks to wild animals

In Autumn , lots of wild animals like to make their homes in leaves , twigs and other natural , living things .   At  this time of year , we have bonfires at Bonfire night and Hedgehogs like to hibernate in leaves , so don’t set them alight until   you have checked there isn’t an animal sleeping there .  So this won’t happen , you could make your bonfire an hour before so there is no time for the creatures to get there.

I learnt that Hedgehogs like to hibernate in foliage , twigs and other natural things. Read the artical .

 Victory for Sebastian Vettel

The victory for Sebastian Vettel was dramatic because Lewis Hamilton who had won the qualifying stages had not even finished the race due to the fact he had issues with his gearbox on the race track; another incident was when the  youngest driver (Jean-Eric Vergne)  was forced to retire as Michael Schumacher had  crashed into him.Michael Schumacher will also be leaving Mecrcedes at the end of the season. I infered this from the text as it says  ‘Michael Schumacher, driving for Mercedes crashed into Jean-Eric Vergne, the youngest driver on the circuit, forcing them both to retire’.

Read the story here ‘New population of polar bears found in the Arctic’

This story, posted on the 9th November 2012, is all about an unknown population of polar bears living on a iceberg in the arctic founded by the conservationists working for the BBC.  They were found near the coast of Canada.  The scientists found out that when ice melts only some polar bears move to dry land!  There were 20 polar bears found.

This story proved that animals can live anywhere from the smallest iceberg to the biggest country!   This story from first news is just one of the fabulouse storys they have got in store.  There are many storys from animals to showbiz,  sport to the world so there is allways something to read.

Read the story here Polar Bears discovered in the Arctic

Around twenty Polar bears have been found on an iceberg fivety  kilometres off the Coast of Canada.  It shows that not all polar bears return to  land when  ice melts like we thought .A nature presenter , who filmed these polar bears , says :

“What’s there for them is security, and I think they are taking advantage of that. So I think they are living on this iceberg to stay safe, and just wait for the sea ice to come back in.”

I learnt about the artical that Polar bears are very clever  creatures and some spend the Summer on larger icebergs .
