Reading stem 1

I am reading ‘ The Young Samurai ‘ by Chris Bradford, I think this book is outstanding because there has already been exciting things such as having a fight with the Shadow Ninja and have been on a ship in a storm.

In this amazing book so far Jack has had a fight with the Shadow Ninja and succeeded with his plans.  Later on in the story, Jack has been in a storm with his crew.  Luckily, they survived and now the ‘ Alexandria ‘, the name of the ship, has sunk into the deep depths of the sea.  Now they have found a town and just got off the ‘ Alexandria ‘ in time.

I am wondering how the ‘ Alexandria has sunk because in the text it just says it sunk and didn’t tell us how.  Also, I don’t understand how a building could grow on a rock because in the text it says ‘ Among the trees stood a building that appears to have grown out of the rock itself.

Reading stem 2

I am reading ‘ The Young Samurai ’ by Chris Bradford, I think this book is very descriptive because in the text there are powerful adjectives such as ‘ mysterious, glorious and ephemeral ‘.  Also, there are lot’s of strong verbs such as ‘ cascaded, glimmered, shimmered and tethered ‘.In chapter 4, this detailed imagery really helps you to visualise what’s going on.

Since my last reading stem, Jack has seen a beautiful girl with a white stallion watching the ship.   Furthermore, she vanished before his dad could see her.  The crew have worked double shifts to repair the Alexandria and one of the sailors has told the others about the fierce samurai.  The chapter ends on a cliffhanger as the Wako (Japanese pirates) are approaching the shore.

I predict that the Wako will attack the Alexandria, however the Captain and his crew will defend them selves courageously and become the first foreigners to defeat the Wakos.  I am curious about the girl .  Will Jack meet her again?  Will she turn out to be a friend or a foe?

Reading stem 3

I am still reading the fantastic book ‘ The Young Samurai ‘ by Chris Bradford, I am really enjoying this book because there is a lot going on in every chapter such as in chapter 1 and 2 he has a fight with the shadow ninja, 3 and 4 he is in a thunderous storm and in 5 and 6 he is in a battle with 5 Shadow ninjas.

In this book so far, Jack couldn’t get to sleep, so he go up and the watchmen got killed and he went back to the companion way and just caught a glimpse of a Shadow ninja.  He keeps on seeing a white woman and his father is surrounded by a ring of Shadow ninjas.

I don’t understand why the Shadow ninja wants to kill them because they haven’t done any harm to the ninjas.  I think the white girl is a ninja disguised as a woman because in the text she keeps speaking Japanese.

So that is where I am up to so far in this fantastic book!
