Happy learners blog well
Reading Stem 1
I have finished reading ‘Cookie.’ I really liked this book, because the author made me read on. By saying things like, ‘Dad was still shaking his head, looking utterly baffled, as we walked out of the house.’ And ‘Mum started the car and we drove off.’ This makes me want to read on, because I want to know where they are driving to and why they are walking away.
At the end of this book, Beauty meets her favourite person off T.V. She gets to go on a programme called Watchbox. Skye, the bully from her old school, has always dreamed on going on that programme. I would be very happy to be in Beauty’s place there, because Skye would be watching Watchbox and see Beauty on T.V. I think Beauty was very happy to meet Sam and Lily, her favourite actor and his pet rabbit, because she has always wanted to meet them and has watched all their programmes.
I would recommend this book to good readers, because it is a really good book, with a lot of great year 4 to 6 WOW WORDS! I think this is a great book and I think you should read this, because the author really made me want to read and on and find out what happened in the end! And I did!
Reading Stem 2
I am reading ‘How to survive summer camp’ by Jacqueline Wilson. I wonder why she chooses to write about this, because I haven’t read a story about a person who goes to summer camp before. I have read Cliffhanger, which is about a boy who goes to summer-camp, which is also by Jacqueline Wilson. The two books are quite similar. I think she has chosen to make these books similar, because she wants to show the feelings by different gender. They both didn’t want to go to summer camp. But, they both felt different about it.
I predict that in this book, Stella, the main character, will be forced to do something that she cannot do, for example riding a bike, or swimming. I think this, because of the name of the book. For example, if you survived a car crash, you didn’t die in the crash. So she tries to survive summer camp, she tries to carry on going, carry on living.
In the book, Stella has to share a room with Marzipan, her new best friend, Louise, a posh, nasty girl, Karen, who copies everything Louise does and says, a shy girl who doesn’t talk and another girl. I don’t think Stella likes being in that group, because Karen and Louise call her Baldy (because she has no hair) and they always be very nasty to her. I think that Stella will get her own revenge, by cutting of their own hair.
I infer that Stella is a tough girl, because she doesn’t care that she gets teased, and always fights back. I wonder why Karen and Louise are so nasty to her, because of Stella’s hair. I have quite short hair (not as short as Stella’s though) but I don’t get bullied because of my hair. I think I would like to have short hair like Stella.

Well done Charlote, this is a great reading stem and it shows some reding skills like inferring and predicting. I am slo proud to see you edited your work. This is what a good writer does.
Although your work shows evidence of P.E.E, I would like to see more quotes form the book to back up your thinking.
Which of these books did you prefer Charlotte?
from Mrs Duxbury,
( and I love your hair just the way it is.)

Thank you Mrs Duxbury! I will try really hard when editing my work, to make sure I have used P.E.E!
(Thank you, I like my hair too!)
