Welcome to the new 6D! I hope you enjoy your blog as much as my daughter enjoyed it last year. It’s quite sad really to think she won’t be posting on here anymore 🙁

I’m sure you will all love it and embrace it as much as she did. You certainly have the best teacher to help you understand and progress within it. I will enjoy reading your blogs and challenges.

    Good luck!!

    Hi 6d,
I live in Melbourne, Australia. I am a teacher. We are already half way through our year, not just starting like you. I look forward to hearing all about your school, your class and whatever it is you are going to learn about.
    Where is your school, exactly?
How many students does it have?
What’s the weather like at the moment?

What a great opportunity this blog will be for your learning! I just read a post this morning that I will use to remind my own students.

    Before you post THINK:
    Is it True?
    Is it Helpful?
    Is it Insightful?
    Is it Necessary?
    Is it Kind?

Best wishes for an excellent learning adventure as you share your voices with a world that cares what you have to say.

  12.   Night Zookeeper Paul Says:

Good afternoon to all you new 6D bloggers.

This is a very exciting time for you as you embark on a blogging journey with the fabulous Mrs. D. Please remember as you post that the animals at the Night Zoo will be following with interest. The Old Sea Lion has a love of poetry, the Time Traveling Elephant enjoys a good adventure story and the Penguin Professor has a keen interest in anything scientific. Expect to see me stopping by to read and comment regularly.

    Good luck and happy blogging!

    Night Zookeeper Paul

  14.   Grant Lichtman Says:

Welcome, students, to what I call The Learning Pond! The reason I call it the learning pond is that, like a pond, there are lots of different organisms who live in the pond: teachers, students, parents, principals, writers and speakers, people in business. Like a pond which has water to transfer nutrients, you have your blog and your computer to share information and knowledge with anyone, anywhere in the whole pond, which is the whole world.

So don’t just be a consumer of knowledge like the fish in the pond; also create and share what you know, like algae in the pond. Find all kinds of sunny shallow spots and shady deep spots to investigate; you can mentally swim wherever you want to go. How cool is that! When I was in sixth grade all we had were some library books, and when I did my report on Venezuela (which BTW was the best in the class, of course), I had some National Geographic magazines. You have the world at your fingertips, so explore that pond wherever you want to go!

and everyone will be so impressed!

Maybe see you some time soon.

  16.   Coventry Primary English - Mrs Clarke Says:

    Hello Year Six,
What an exciting year you are going to have. You will be the oldest children in the school; you will go on loads of fabulous trips; you will learn amazing things that make your brains ache; and, you get to spend the year telling us all about it on this fabulous blog.
I work with lots of Primary schools in Coventry – maybe we could get some of them to take a look at your blog (you might be able to take a look at theirs too). I really look forward to seeing what you post.
    Bye for now,
    Mrs Clarke

  17.   Mrs Skinner Says:

You WILL have so much fun because is it fun and learning at the same time not just always writing in a book but on the web. And may people from all around the globe can comment on your work.

  24.   Thea (Highlawn) Says:

Hi`New` year 6. I just want wish you good luck and inform you how much fun blogging is. You will learn that Mrs Duxbury is crazy with the blog so do make sure that you remember to go on the blog every now and then (at home.) I will miss blogging and Mrs Duxbury because my High School does not carry on the subject of blogging. I think the site `100 word challenge`you will enjoy. I know that you do it sometimes in year 5 but with Mrs Duxbury it won’t be just another piece of work it will be fun and especially with Mrs Skinner running it. Good luck to everyone!
    From Thea
P.S. I hope you enjoy year 6 like I did!
